As I have mentioned previously in my blog, this year gives rise to medical students starting four different rotations: community mental health, neurology and elderly care, managing long term conditions and women and children. of which I am most excited by the latter!
Third year at medical school sees a jump from the academics of learning medicine to the reality of what it’s like to become a doctor. With more clinics to attend and a higher insight into all the different specialties; the reality of what faces me as I progress throughout medical school is being brought to light.
As you may be able to tell, the rotation I’m most interested in is women and children. I’m also doing my SSM in the field of obstetrics which I will talk about more later on. I’m hoping that starting this rotation will motivate me to pursue this field and if not, I guess I’ll be back to square one.
