Halfway meal

Last night marked the exact halfway point of our time in medical school. Technically it’s not yet the halfway point for me as I’m hoping to intercalate at the end of fourth year so I have yet another year of education left before I delve into the world of long hours, debt and insufficient pay.

It’s tradition in my medical school for the whole year group to go out for a meal at a restaurant to celebrate the fact that we’re nearly on our way to becoming doctors. I couldn’t help but think about my first day in medical school. Not only was I overwhelmed by the fact that I actually made it but I was also scared and excited for my future.

Due to the small size of the year groups at my university, everyone got to know each other fairly quickly and before we knew it, great and memorable moments were soon being created for us to cherish for a lifetime…
