About a week ago, we took a family trip to London for a surprise party for my sister’s 18th. We took the opportunity to do some shopping. However, due to limited time and money, I couldn’t splash out so I came out with two lipsticks, foundation and gel eyeliner.
Normally when I’m on placements, I don’t wear a lot of makeup. Just some mascara to make my eyes look less tired and some lip balm is normally sufficient for me to look presentable to the public. Recently, I’ve found a new love for makeup and find it so much fun applying it. So much so that getting ready for a night out is more enjoyable to me than actually going out.
I’ve been looking for a daily wear matte lipstick for ages! Previously on the blog I posted a velvet lip gloss that I found which was the closest shade of pink I found that I could wear on a regular basis. However, even this shade seemed a bit too pink and I wanted something that was a bit more neutral. Inglot’s matte lipstick in 410 has been a god-send as it’s the perfect nude for my skin tone. It’s something I could actually get away with wearing to hospital without looking too “done up”!
I’ve always used liquid eyeliner but I thought I’d start trying out gel eyeliner to see how that works. I don’t normally wear eyeliner to placements but the next term will bring forth long caffeine filled nights so it will be wise for me to try and make my eyes look less tired. Therefore, I’m going to try simple eye makeup that looks natural.
I’ve always used liquid foundation which always felt too heavy to wear during the daytime so I stayed away from wearing foundation during the day. I decided to buy some powder which feels a lot lighter on my skin even though it’s studio fix enabling me to wear it during the day without feeling like I’m wearing a mask!
So my routine:
- MAC studio fix foundation powder NC 50 = £22.00
- Models own Black gel eyeliner = £5.00
- Revolution wild mascara = £7.00
- Inglot matte lipstick 410 = £13.00
