Acute paediatrics

It’s been a while hasn’t it? I’ve just finished paediatrics and I’m now about to move onto acute paediatrics. Which is pretty much the same as what I’ve been doing except that I’m on placement in the evenings and potentially the weekends.

I’m in the annual MedSoc panto (again) this year. This time I’ve decided to take on an acting role. So I’ve decided to play the part of Wendy in Peter Pan. So most of my evenings have been taken up with that and in the evenings that I’m free have been taken up with work.

Even though I’m enjoying paediatrics, there’s a lot of work to get through in 6 weeks. I’m basically having to learn everything I had to learn in adult medicine for the past two years, but in miniature version!

My elective application has finally been sent off! Fingers crossed that I get a place in O&G within Brisbane.

I have just two weeks left until I get to go home for Christmas and I can’t wait! It’s going to be great to get away from medical school for a bit. Having said that though, my Christmas is going to have to be spent finishing two essays…
