Electives are just round the corner and it is never too early for final year medical students to start prepping for it. As the rep for the Medical Women’s Federation at my university, I wanted to bring your attention to the bursary that MWF are offering female medical students who will be undertaking their elective in 2018.
Grants of up to £500 are offered to students who are undertaking an elective next year. You would have to be a member of MWF in order to be considered for the application and also be willing to undertake a mini project. More details can be found here. The submission deadline is the 28th of January 2018.
I can hear the masculinists crying out loud at the unfairness of this bursary being tailored just to female students. But there are plenty of bursaries available elsewhere! Check with your medical school, royal colleges and other national societies. Even though the gap between men and women are narrowing in medicine, we still have it a little bit harder ladies so we need all the help we can get to empower each other!
