This year I am going to be taking on the Tough Mudder 5K challenge in East London. Am I crazy? Probably. But I am doing it for a wonderful charity. Familia Trust is an organisation in Calcutta set up by a relative of some friends of mine. It houses orphans in four foster families within its compound providing them with a home rather than an institution to live in. It provides children with a close alternative to a family that they would not otherwise experience. I love the concept of this charity, hence the reason why I picked them to raise money for whilst I tackle 5000 kilometres of mud and obstacles.
They also run a senior citizen’s home where elderly people who are homeless or abandoned are looked after by a team of workers. These workers refer to them as ‘grandma’ or ‘grandpa’ which I think is a testament to the level of care and thought they put into this organisation.
The challenge itself is on the 24th of March in East London and I am going to be doing it with my cousin and her best friend. I have not actually starting training yet. If I am honest, I don’t think I will properly start until I have finished my exams in mid-February.
So all I request from you guys is that you make a donation to my JustGiving page. It can be as little as £2.00 ($2.80) and you can even donate anonymously! It would really mean a lot to me (and to Familia) if you could make a little contribution. I will be posting updates on my training on my Instagram in the next month or so. I am afraid this will not be the last you hear of Tough Mudder because I will be making another blog post nearer the time!
