I presented another poster this year at the Medical Students Day at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. My research looked at how medicalisation of pregnancy affects women in both developed and developing countries. I was surprised to find that a lot of people were interested in this topic and I was asked a lot of questions. There were some students that did not know what medicalisation was so I suppose I have the gods of paper 3 to thank for my detailed understanding of the topic.
Women are taking over medicine. In 2012, a report from the General Medical Council announced that 55% of medical students in the UK were female. So in essence we have gone from this…
So it was no surprise to see that around 90% of the students that came to this event were female.
It was really inspiring listening to the talks given by doctors at various stages in their career. Seeing some people from Lancaster Medical School was also great because it gave me a chance to catch up with life in the North.
I have one week left until my BSc exams so posts may be less frequent from now on..
