The Unofficial Guide to Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a book that was published this year. I was asked to review this book so I am going to give you guys my honest opinion before you think about buying it.
The book has a lot of authors which means that a wide array of doctors and medical students have contributed to this book; thus making the information in this book fairly reliable. It is also created in the United Kingdom which means that the information is particularly relevant to medical students and midwives studying in the U.K.
The book is split into two sections: Gynaecology and Obstetrics and all the conditions are covered in great detail. There are plenty of images in each chapter which breaks up the blocks of text. Each chapter also contains some questions so that you can practice what you have learnt.
What I love about this book is that all of the information given regarding management is in accordance with the latest NICE and RCOG guidelines. There are also references at the end of each chapter so that you can do any further reading on the topic.
I guess the only downside of the book is the price! It is £34.99 which may be quite steep for a student. But, right now you can save 10% off on amazon. If this was published earlier, this would have been the resource that I would have used for all my O&G revision!
