This is my second time visiting the country of romance. However, this time round the glamour of being in the city was put to the side as I camped on the outskirts of a small town called Le Conquet. With a ten minute walk to Les Blancs Sablons and a fifteen minute walk down to the rustic town centre; our campsite was in the perfect location.

The first few days were spent setting up the tents and going down to the beach to make the most of the sunny weather. I have missed the feeling of sand running in between my toes and the sound of the waves crashing against each other. The sand was none like I had seen before as the moment it touched your skin, you glistened in the sunlight due to the unusual crystals.

We spent a lot of our time in the bakeries of Le Conquet in order to try out their infamous selection of cakes and bread which makes my mouth water even now. Tuesday was market day. So we’d spend our time roaming the different stalls admiring the authentic Breton goodies that were on offer. I was also pleased to find a stall full of spices which took me right back to India!

On one of the days, we went snorkeling. As someone with a phobia of deep water, this was a big deal for me but J managed to miraculously persuade me to do it and I’m really glad I did. Being underwater is like being in a completely different world. One with so much beauty and unusual structures passing you as you make your way through it.

By the end of the week, it was J’s birthday. So I woke up early and blew up balloons and bought treats in order to bring in the element of surprise. We went out for a meal at night to one of his favourite restaurants where I tried moules frites (Mussels in a creamy white wine sauce and chips) and it was delicious!

By the middle of the second week, the weather took a turn for the worse so we decided to hire a house in another town rather than camp in the storm. All in all, I had a really good time and I’m sad to be back in England. But, we’re already planning our next holiday to Germany which I’m very excited about!
